ALBUM REVIEW - ROYAL REPUBLIC - LOVECOP
Royal Republic knows how to have a good time from the Weekend Man to Club Majesty. The Swedish four-piece continues those good times on their fifth album – LoveCop.
Royal Republic knows how to have a good time from the Weekend Man to Club Majesty. The Swedish four-piece continues those good times on their fifth album – LoveCop.
LoveCop opens with a short intro before exploding into the sax-filled ‘My House.’ It is a joyous, infectious hit that only kickstarts the party. Royal Republic knows how to make an album feel like a party from the sax-filled ‘Wow! Wow! Wow!’ to the seductive ‘Freakshow.’ The band jumps between hair-metal guitars, synth-pop beats, and Adam Grahn’s captivating vocals.
LoveCop is an over-the-top, raucous party that delivers exactly what you’d expect from a Royal Republic record. They know when to have their fists pumping with ‘Boots’ and slow things down with the haunting ‘Lazerlove.’
The only downside is that the good times can feel like a blur, thumping along on a full pedal from start to finish. That being said, each song does shine, with each having its unique flavor, making it difficult to pick a standout.
Royal Republic promised a good time when they kicked off this album cycle with the single ‘My House.’ LoveCop delivered that party with catchy lyrics, sax-infused synth beats, and intense energy. LoveCop is a perfect way to enter the summer.
